Anita Wadley Schlaht, Author and Speaker
Let's Get Aquainted
Author and Speaker Anita Wadley Schlaht holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and a M. Ed. in Gifted Education. She has 25 years of experience as a teacher/director/owner of Children's World and Gateways to Learning Developmental Preschool. She taught kindergarten in the Edmond Public School system for four years, and retired in 2019 after five years as Executive Director of the Edmond History Museum. Her poem, JUST Playing has been published and shared around the world and in many different languages on the internet. It was published in Chicken Soup for the Unsinkable Soul and Early Childhood News Magazine in 1999.
During her time as a teacher she often used a poem that ended, "I love to work in the garden where little children grow." At the age of seven Anita began her walk with Jesus and found that while she spent quiet times among the trees at camp, He was speaking through His Word about the direction for her life. She is passionate about gardening and studying God's Word. She has been drawn to missions' ministries in Edmond and around the world where she uses her gifts of teaching, writing, music, sewing and crochet. She had three short stories published by Guideposts in the When Miracles Happen series in 2007 and 2008.
Anita has presented workshops, led Women's Bible Studies in Oklahoma, Africa, Mexico, and Nicaragua, been a conference presenter, taught online and in person, provided professional development training, and done author visits to schools, libraries and book stores. She is available to work with you to meet the needs of your audience.
Kirby and Anita have a blended family of six children and nine grandchildren. They enjoy gardening, sports, music, reading, traveling, spending time with family, and their two dogs. They live in Edmond, Oklahoma.
